Membership Relations Manager

Full-time, with a generous benefits package
Salary: $48,000 to $52,000 depending on experience

Position Overview: This position reports directly to the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce. As Membership Relations Manager at the Chamber of Commerce, you will play a crucial role in cultivating and maintaining relationships with current and prospective members. Your primary responsibility is to oversee the growth of the chamber's membership base, ensuring a diverse and engaged community. This role involves strategic planning, member engagement, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the overall value of chamber membership. This is an in-person position with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays. Some morning and evening events. Candidates with past sales experience and/or active in a Chamber of Commerce will be given priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Membership Growth:
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract new members to the chamber.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential members and industries for targeted outreach.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling membership campaigns and promotional materials.
  • Must be comfortable with connecting with prospective businesses via the phone, email, and/or in-person via cold calls.
  • Member Retention:
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with existing members to encourage retention.
  • Monitor member satisfaction and address concerns or issues promptly.
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance the value of chamber membership for existing members.
  • Collaborate with and facilitate member engagement efforts with committee volunteers who’s task is to help with retention.
  • Events and Networking:
  • Organize member benefit workshops to facilitate member interaction.
  • Work closely with event planning teams to ensure seamless execution of chamber activities.
  • Promote member participation in chamber events to foster a sense of community and collaboration.
  • Coordinates monthly Out-of-the-Box lunches and Coffee Connections
  • Communication and Outreach:
  • Effectively communicate the benefits of chamber membership to businesses and individuals.
  • Utilize various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and direct outreach, to engage with current and potential members.
  • Represent the chamber at community events and meetings to enhance visibility.
  • Data Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records and databases.
  • Develop a proficiency in the chamber’s unique database so to identify member business status, prospective members, primary representatives of each business.
  • Generate reports on membership trends, growth, and engagement for internal use.
  • Utilize data to identify opportunities for targeted membership initiatives.
  • Collaboration:
  • Liaison on Monthly membership and Ambassador Committee meetings.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as marketing, events, and advocacy, to align membership initiatives with overall chamber goals.
  • Work closely with the office manager on member dues status and ‘welcome & renewal’ communication to members.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, community leaders, and government officials to strengthen partnerships and support chamber objectives.

7. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, a related field, or the equivalent of with 3 to 5 years of sales experience.
  • Proven experience in membership management, business development, or related roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and membership management tools is a plus.
  • Understanding of local business and community dynamics.
  • Valid Driver’s License along with the ability to work some early evenings.
